Position Overview
We are seeking a commercially aware and highly organised Senior Quantity Surveyor to join our growing team. This role will be key in managing the financial and contractual elements of projects across both our steel fabrication and civil engineering divisions. Reporting directly to the Operations Director, the successful candidate will work closely with project teams to ensure financial control, accuracy, and value across all phases of project delivery.
Key Responsibilities
· Prepare and manage accurate cost estimates, budgets, financial forecasts and CVRs across steel and civils projects
· Monitor and report on project expenditure, identifying variances and cost-saving opportunities
· Manage subcontractor and supplier contracts, including valuations, variations, and final accounts
· Oversee tendering processes, ensuring competitive pricing and compliance with client requirements
· Support project teams on-site with financial insight and guidance
· Attend meetings with clients, suppliers, and internal stakeholders, ensuring clear communication of commercial matters
· Ensure compliance with relevant contracts, standards, and regulations
· Assist with internal audits and contribute to accreditation and quality initiatives
· Supervise and support placement students or recent graduates, helping them work toward relevant professional qualifications after university
· Collate valuations/applications for submission to the client
· Prepare timely and accurate financial reports for senior management
Qualifications and Skills
· Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor, ideally within steel fabrication and/or civil engineering
· Sound understanding of contract management, cost control, and commercial processes
· Strong numerical and analytical skills with attention to detail
· Excellent communication and negotiation abilities
· Proficient in relevant software (e.g., Excel, estimating and accounting tools)
· Knowledge of NEC, JCT, or other standard forms of contract
· Relevant qualifications in Quantity Surveying or Construction Management
· Full UK driving licence
· 5+ years experience in the industry
