Bar Team Member
Reports to: Shift Supervisor / Restaurant Manager
Location: Central London
Contract: Full-time and part-time positions available
Pay: From £14.00 per hour (central London market rate; see note on pay below)
Role purpose
To prepare and serve drinks quickly, accurately and with a smile, giving every customer a friendly experience while keeping the bar clean, well stocked and fully compliant with licensing law.
Key responsibilities
● Prepare and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks to order, accurately and at pace during busy service.
● Greet customers, answer questions on the drinks menu and make recommendations.
● Operate the till, take payments and handle cash and card transactions correctly.
● Check ID and refuse service where appropriate, following Challenge 25 and licensing law.
● Keep the bar clean, set up and fully stocked; rotate stock and monitor par levels.
● Change kegs and gas, restock fridges, and prepare garnishes, mixers and glassware.
● Follow all health, safety and food hygiene procedures.
● Cash up accurately and complete end-of-shift close-down and cleaning.
Person specification — essential
● Aged 18 or over (required to serve alcohol).
● A friendly, confident manner and clear communication skills.
● Able to stay calm and work at pace under pressure during busy periods.
● Reliable and punctual, with flexibility to work evenings, weekends and bank holidays.
● Good basic numeracy and confidence handling a till and cash.
Person specification — desirable
● Previous bar or hospitality experience.
● Cocktail-making / mixology skills.
● Working knowledge of beers, wines and spirits.
● Personal Licence holder.
Other requirements
● Right to work in the UK (documentary evidence required).
● Willingness to complete in-house training on responsible alcohol service and food hygiene.
Pay: £14.00-£15.00 per hour
