Dental Receptionist
Job Overview
We are seeking a professional, friendly, and experienced Dental Receptionist to join our busy dental practice. The successful candidate will be the first point of contact for patients and will be responsible for managing appointments, handling administrative tasks, and ensuring a smooth and welcoming patient experience.
This role is best suited to someone with previous dental reception experience and a good understanding of how a dental practice operates. The successful candidate should be confident using dental practice management software, managing patient enquiries, and supporting the clinical team in a fast-paced environment.
Duties
- Greet patients warmly and professionally upon arrival and departure.
- Manage appointment scheduling, confirmations, cancellations, and rescheduling using dental practice management software.
- Handle patient check-in and check-out processes efficiently.
- Answer telephone calls, respond to patient enquiries, and direct calls appropriately.
- Maintain accurate patient records and update information as required.
- Process payments, NHS and private patient charges, and insurance claims accurately and securely.
- Assist with administrative tasks such as filing, correspondence, and data entry.
- Ensure the reception area remains tidy, welcoming, and well-stocked with necessary supplies.
- Support the dental team with a variety of administrative duties to ensure the smooth running of the practice.
Experience and Skills
Previous experience working as a Dental Receptionist is essential.
The successful candidate will have:
- A good knowledge of dental practice procedures and patient administration.
- Experience using dental practice management software (such as SOE/Exact, Dentally, or similar).
- Excellent organisational skills with strong attention to detail.
- Outstanding communication and customer service skills.
- Confidence in handling patient enquiries, payments, and appointment management.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and general computer systems.
- The ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining a professional and friendly manner.
- A positive attitude, excellent teamwork skills, and a commitment to delivering exceptional patient care.
