Key Responsibilities:
- Carry out construction site inspections and surveys.
- Review Construction Phase Plans (CPPs), RAMS and other safety documentation.
- Support the CDM Principal Designer team.
- Liaise with clients, project teams and site managers.
- Produce clear reports and practical health and safety guidance.
- Travel to project sites, with occasional overnight stays where required.

The Person
- NEBOSH Construction Certificate.
- At least two years' experience as a Construction Health & Safety Advisor within Construction
- Previous construction health and safety experience.
- IOSH or IIRSM membership (preferred).
- A full, clean UK driving licence.
- Excellent communication skills and a practical, organised approach.
- The flexibility to travel and occasionally stay away overnight
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Health & Safety Advisor specialising in construction projects. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations across construction sites, promoting a culture of safety, and implementing best practices to minimise risks. This role offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to safe working conditions while supporting ongoing projects and maintaining high standards of safety management.
Duties
- Conduct regular site inspections to identify potential hazards and ensure adherence to safety protocols.
- Develop, review, and update health and safety policies in line with current legislation and industry standards.
- Provide expert advice and guidance on health and safety matters to site managers, contractors, and workers.
- Organise safety training sessions and toolbox talks to promote awareness and compliance among staff.
- Investigate accidents, incidents, or near-misses thoroughly, preparing detailed reports with recommended corrective actions.
- Monitor the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and ensure proper usage at all times.
- Liaise with regulatory authorities during inspections and audits, ensuring all documentation is accurate and up-to-date.
- Assist in the development of risk assessments and method statements for various construction activities.
- Promote a proactive safety culture by encouraging reporting of hazards and unsafe behaviours.
- Ensure all electrical systems on site comply with relevant safety standards; electrical experience is considered advantageous.
Skills
- Proven experience in health & safety within the construction sector.
- Strong knowledge of UK health and safety legislation, including CDM regulations.
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively.
- Effective communication skills to liaise confidently with diverse teams at all levels.
- Ability to conduct thorough investigations and produce clear reports.
- Electrical experience is desirable, providing insight into electrical safety practices on site.
- Proactive approach with a keen eye for detail to identify potential risks before they materialise.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
