UWL North is our Manchester depot in Eccles — a small, busy operation where the majority of the work is European road freight: groupage, part and full loads in and out of the Continent, alongside UK distribution.
The Role
We're looking for a Branch Manager to take ownership of the Eccles depot. This is a genuine all-rounder role in a small team — you'll run the operation day to day, stay close to customers, and get stuck in wherever the depot needs you.
Day to day you'll be:
- Running the daily European road freight operation — bookings, hauliers, quotes, problem-solving
- Managing and supporting the depot team
- Looking after existing customers and helping grow the branch
- Working with our Pencoed head office on pricing, invoicing and compliance
- Keeping the depot running safely, efficiently and profitably
Who We're Looking For
We care more about attitude than a perfect CV. The right person works hard, mucks in, and wants to learn and develop — and we'll back you with training and support from across the group.
We'd like to see:
- Freight forwarding experience, ideally European road freight (preferred)
- Some experience managing a depot, branch or team (preferred but not essential)
- A genuine willingness to get stuck in — this is not a sit-behind-a-desk role
- Good commercial instincts and a customer-first approach
- Comfortable with transport and freight systems, or quick to pick them up
