Assistant Venue Manager – Tite & Locke, Lancaster
Full Time | 40 hours per week | Alternate weekends
We’re looking for an Assistant Venue Manager to join the team at Tite & Locke, our busy craft beer bar on Platform 3 at Lancaster Railway Station.
Tite & Locke isn’t your average station pub. With 12 rotating craft beer lines, alongside cask and draught favourites, we’ve built a bar with a real focus on great beer. Add in our regular live music programme and it’s a lively little venue with plenty going on – serving everyone from daily commuters and regulars to craft beer fans, visitors to the city and those starting their night out in Lancaster.
We’re looking for someone who can help us keep developing that.
Working alongside our Venue Manager, you’ll play a key role in the day-to-day running of the site, leading the team and helping us deliver a brilliant experience whether someone is grabbing a quick pint before their train or settling in for an evening of beer and live music.
What you’ll be doing:
You’ll be hands-on in the venue, leading from the front while supporting the Venue Manager with the wider operation. That includes:
- Leading and motivating the team during busy shifts.
- Delivering excellent customer service and making sure our guests are well looked after.
- Helping us maintain and develop our craft beer offer, keeping the team knowledgeable and enthusiastic about what’s on the bar.
- Supporting our programme of live music and events.
- Maintaining high standards across the bar and venue.
- Opening and closing the site and taking responsibility for shifts.
- Supporting with rotas, stock control, ordering and other day-to-day management tasks.
- Training, developing and supporting team members.
- Making sure licensing, health & safety and company procedures are followed.
- Helping us keep Tite & Locke running smoothly, efficiently and profitably.
Who we’re looking for:
You’ll ideally already have experience as a supervisor, team leader or assistant manager within hospitality and be ready to take on more responsibility.
An interest in craft beer would be a definite advantage. You don’t need to arrive knowing everything – we can teach you plenty – but we’d love someone who gets excited about new beers, breweries and helping customers discover something they’ll enjoy.
More importantly, we’re looking for someone who:
- Is confident leading a team and happy to get stuck in.
- Can keep their head when things get busy.
- Has great customer service instincts.
- Is organised, reliable and takes pride in high standards.
- Can spot what needs doing without always needing to be asked.
- Enjoys working as part of a small, close-knit team.
- Wants to contribute ideas and help us continue developing the venue.
The role:
This is a full-time, 40-hour-per-week position, working a mixture of shifts to suit the needs of the venue.
We know hospitality management shouldn’t mean giving up every weekend, so the role is structured around alternate weekend working, giving you regular weekends away from work.
You’ll be joining Lancaster Brewery, an independent hospitality business with six venues across Lancashire and Cumbria. There’s plenty of opportunity to learn, develop and build your hospitality management experience as part of the wider group.
If you love hospitality, enjoy great beer and want a management role somewhere with a bit of personality, we’d love to hear from you.
Apply now with your CV and a few words about yourself – and, just so we know you’ve made it this far, tell us your favourite beer too. There are no wrong answers… probably.
Pay: £28,000.00-£30,000.00 per year
