ABOUT US
We don’t mean to brag… but we’re building something genuinely special ;)
(Not in a corporate, soulless way.)
The Friendship Network exists to help adults build real friendships through warm, welcoming, brilliantly run social events.
Most people walk into our events feeling a bit nervous.
A lot of them leave with new friends.
That’s what we care about.
We’ve grown quickly and we’re now looking for the right people to help us deliver that same experience consistently.
⸻
THE ROLE
We’re looking for a Lead Cover Host.
Someone we can rely on.
Someone who can walk into a room, take ownership, and make sure people feel welcome, included, and looked after, even when things aren’t perfect.
This is not:
- Just “turning up and helping out”
- Standing around waiting to be told what to do
- A background role
This is:
- Taking responsibility
- Leading when needed
- Creating a great atmosphere for others
⸻
WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING
At a typical event, you’ll:
- Welcome members as they arrive
- Help people settle in (especially those who come alone)
- Keep the energy warm, relaxed and inclusive
- Support or lead parts of the event when needed
- Handle small issues calmly and confidently
- Work alongside other hosts to keep things flowing
Some events you’ll support.
Some events you’ll lead.
⸻
WHERE YOU’LL WORK
You’ll cover events across:
- Hemel Hempstead & Berkhamsted
- High Wycombe & Marlow
Most shifts are evenings, with rotas planned in advance.
You’ll need to be able to travel to these areas for evening events.
⸻
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
We don’t need perfection.
But we do need people who:
- Show up when they say they will
- Stay calm under pressure
- Are naturally warm and good with people
- Take responsibility (without being asked)
- Can think on their feet
- Actually care about others having a good experience
If people tend to trust you quickly…
you’ll probably do well here.
⸻
PAY & HOURS
- £60 per event
- Typically 3–4 hours per event
- Flexible, evening-based shifts
- Zero-hours role (work offered based on event demand and availability)
Some weeks may have multiple events, others may have fewer- flexibility is key.
⸻
WHY PEOPLE ENJOY THIS ROLE
- You’re not stuck behind a desk
- You meet genuinely interesting people
- You’re part of something that actually helps others
- Every event is different
- You’re trusted to do the role properly
⸻
THIS ROLE IS NOT FOR YOU IF:
- You need constant direction
- You avoid responsibility
- You don’t enjoy social environments
- You prefer predictable, repetitive work
⸻
WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE
- People feel welcomed within minutes of arriving
- No one is left standing on their own
- Events run smoothly (even when things aren’t perfect)
- Members leave feeling glad they came
⸻
