Responsibilities
- Safely operate council vehicles, including vans, and specialized service vehicles, ensuring compliance with traffic laws and safety protocols
- Transport council staff, equipment, and materials to designated locations efficiently and punctually
- Perform routine vehicle inspections and basic maintenance tasks to ensure optimal vehicle performance
- Maintain accurate logs of trips, mileage, fuel consumption, and vehicle condition reports
- Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors regarding schedules, routes, and any vehicle issues
- Assist with loading and unloading materials or equipment as needed during transportation tasks
- Adhere to all safety guidelines and report any incidents or hazards immediately
Requirements
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record; commercial driving license (CDL) preferred but not mandatory.nottingham city or Gedling council.badge and vehicle
- Proven experience as a delivery or council driver, with a strong understanding of driving regulations and safety standards
- Mechanical knowledge to perform basic vehicle maintenance and troubleshooting
- Excellent communication skills in English to coordinate effectively with team members and stakeholders
- Demonstrated ability to operate various types of vehicles safely under different conditions
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail for maintaining accurate records and logs
