Cybersecurity Engineer – Belfast
Base location: Belfast, Northern Ireland (Hybrid)
We are supporting a leading global technology and defence organisation in the appointment of a Cybersecurity Engineer to join their Enterprise Services team in Belfast.
This is a highly technical, customer-facing position focused primarily on Data and Database Security, working with enterprise customers to protect critical data, resolve complex security challenges and optimise their security environments.
The role would suit someone from a Cybersecurity, Data Security, Database Security or Application Security background who has strong database knowledge and enjoys solving complex technical problems.
- Provide technical expertise across Data and Database Security within complex enterprise environments

Configure, maintain and optimise security platforms and policies

Analyse security events and support incident response and root-cause analysis

Troubleshoot complex technical and security issues

Support the deployment and configuration of security solutions across on-premise and cloud environments

Work closely with enterprise customers, providing technical guidance and consultancy

Assess customer environments and recommend appropriate security improvements

Collaborate with internal engineering, sales and customer success teams

Contribute to technical best practice and knowledge sharing within the wider engineering team

Support the ongoing development and optimisation of enterprise security solutions
We are particularly interested in people with experience in:

Cybersecurity, Data Security, Database Security or Application Security

Strong SQL knowledge and experience working with databases such as SQL Server, Oracle or MySQL
-
Exposure to MongoDB / NoSQL databases
-
Understanding of Data or Database Security
-
Cloud infrastructure and security, ideally within AWS, Azure or GCP
-
Security engineering, technical troubleshooting or incident response
-
Web and application security, including familiarity with the OWASP Top 10
-
Networking fundamentals including TCP/IP, HTTP/S, DNS, SSL/TLS, reverse proxies and firewalls

Linux-based operating systems and scripting such as Python or Bash
Experience with Imperva or similar enterprise security platforms would be advantageous, but is not essential.
This is an opportunity to work within a global organisation on complex enterprise security environments, supporting customers with critical data and infrastructure.
The position offers the chance to develop your expertise across Data Security, Database Security and wider Cybersecurity, while working closely with customers and becoming a trusted technical specialist.
You do not need to meet every requirement listed above. We are particularly interested in candidates with a strong security foundation and relevant database/data security experience.
