We are looking for a Senior Legal Contracts Specialist, with extensive contract review and drafting expertise, to join our team at our East Campus office in Westhill, Aberdeenshire on a full-time staff basis.
This is an exciting opportunity to work at the heart of a collaborative, forward-thinking team, where your expertise will directly contribute to the success of complex offshore operations and strategic initiatives.
The Senior Legal Contracts Specialist sits within the Offshore Delivery SCM, Contracts & Chartering team, supporting global offshore operations. Reporting to the Senior Commercial Manager, this role delivers specialist legal, contractual, and commercial expertise across key service lines including Offshore Resources, Offshore Operations, Pipeline Group, and major CAPEX/new build vessel projects.
What will you be doing?
This will be a highly varied role but some of the key responsibilities include:
Contracts & Commercial
Draft, review, and negotiate a range of contracts (e.g. frame agreements, NDAs, amendments, LOIs).
Advise on non-standard terms, guarantees, VAT/end user declarations, and complex claims.
Support strategic vessel charter agreements and framework renewals.
Project & Risk Management
Oversee contractual/commercial aspects of major vessel CAPEX projects and upgrades.
Manage complex vessel transactions (sale, purchase, recycling, flag transfer).
Collaborate with internal functions to ensure legal, tax, HR, finance, and compliance alignment.
Process & Governance
Improve contracting processes, approvals, and governance frameworks.
Identify gaps and enhance tools, templates, and workflows.
Stakeholder Engagement & Development
Deliver training on contract processes and systems.
Mentor team members and build contractual capability.
Build strong relationships across Offshore Delivery and corporate functions.
What qualifications and experience would we like you to have?

Contractual expertise – extensive knowledge of contract law and international contracting standards, with proven experience drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a wide variety of commercial contracts, including service agreements, supply contracts and charter parties.
Education – a degree in Law, Business Management, or a related discipline is essential. A postgraduate qualification or professional legal certification is highly desirable.
Industry experience – significant experience in a contracts or legal role, ideally within the marine, subsea, offshore, energy, or engineering sectors.
Commercial acumen – strong understanding of commercial risk, pricing models, and business drivers, with the ability to align contractual and commercial terms with strategic objectives.

Technical proficiency - strong computer literacy, including experience with business enterprise systems and contract lifecycle management systems such as SAP ECC6 / SAP S/4Hana and SAP Ariba
