We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic Band 7 Clinical Psychologist to join the Mental Health Services for Older People (MHSOP) Psychology team at North Tyneside General Hospital.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a supportive and expanding psychology service, with the majority of the post based within the Memory Clinic and opportunities to work across community and inpatient MHSOP services. The role offers the chance to develop specialist skills in neuropsychological assessment alongside psychological assessment, formulation and intervention with older adults presenting with both functional and organic mental health difficulties.
The post-holder will work as part of cohesive multidisciplinary teams including psychologists, psychiatrists, nurses, occupational therapists and social workers, with regular supervision from experienced senior psychologists and opportunities to contribute to service development.
Please note we reserve the right to close this vacancy prior to the closing date once the required number of suitable applications have been received.
The post-holder will join the Clinical Psychology team within the Mental Health Services for Older People (MHSOP) in North Tyneside, working as part of a multidisciplinary psychology service.
The role will be predominantly based within the Memory Clinic, undertaking specialist neuropsychological assessment of older adults with cognitive concerns. This includes contributing to differential diagnosis, formulation and multidisciplinary diagnostic decision-making, and providing feedback and recommendations to patients, families and the wider clinical team. As this forms a substantial part of the role, previous experience in neuropsychological assessment within older adult mental health and/or memory services is essential.
The post-holder will also provide psychological assessment, formulation and intervention within community and inpatient MHSOP services, working with older adults with functional and organic mental health difficulties, alongside providing consultation and advice to colleagues, carers and other professionals.
The post-holder will contribute to multidisciplinary working, provide clinical supervision where appropriate, and participate in audit, service evaluation and the ongoing development of the MHSOP Psychology service.
