We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Registered Children's Home Manager to lead the opening of our brand-new children's residential home. About the Role
As Registered Manager, you will be responsible for the overall leadership, management, and development of the home, ensuring it operates in line with:
- Children's Homes (England) Regulations 2015
- Ofsted requirements
- Safeguarding legislation and statutory guidance
You will promote a nurturing, trauma-informed and therapeutic approach that places children and young people at the heart of everything you do.
Responsibilities
- Register with Ofsted as the Registered Manager for the home.
- Lead the opening, development and ongoing management of the service.
- Create a positive, child-centred culture focused on achieving outstanding outcomes.
- Recruit, develop and retain a high-performing staff team.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant legislation, regulations and Quality Standards.
- Oversee safeguarding practices and ensure children remain safe at all times.
- Develop individualised care plans, risk assessments and behaviour support strategies.
- Monitor quality through audits, supervision and continuous improvement.
- Manage budgets and resources effectively.
- Build strong relationships with local authorities, Ofsted, education providers, health professionals and families.
- Lead inspections and strive towards achieving an Outstanding Ofsted rating.
- Promote a culture of learning, accountability and professional development.
Essential Experience
Applicants should be able to demonstrate:
- Significant experience working within children's residential care.
- Previous experience as a Registered Manager, Deputy Manager, or an experienced manager ready to register with Ofsted.
- Experience managing and developing staff teams.
- Excellent knowledge of safeguarding legislation and children's social care.
- Experience working with children presenting with emotional and behavioural needs, trauma, attachment difficulties or complex needs.
- Experience completing care planning, risk assessments, incident management and quality assurance.
- Strong leadership, organisational and communication skills.
- Experience working with external professionals including local authorities, education and health services.
- Confidence in leading an Ofsted inspection and driving continuous improvement.
Essential Qualifications
To meet the requirements for registration with Ofsted, applicants should hold:
- Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare (England), or
- Be working towards the Level 5 qualification and able to complete it within the required timescales.
- Level 3 Diploma for Residential Childcare (England) (or recognised equivalent).
- Full UK Driving Licence.
Applicants must satisfy the fitness requirements for registration with Ofsted under the Children's Homes Regulations.
