Job Description
Horbury Group is looking for an enthusiastic and detail-focused Assistant Buyer to join our Procurement team at our Rotherham Head Office. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone looking to build a career in procurement, working closely with our Procurement Manager on purchase orders, supplier set-up, and day-to-day procurement transactions across our projects. You'll gain hands-on experience and develop the skills needed to progress towards a full Buyer role. Occasional flexibility for site visits will be required.

Key Responsibilities
- Produce purchase orders from site requisitions, ensuring compliance with specification standards and Bills of Quantities
- Support the coordination of material deliveries to help keep project programmes on track
- Check supplier invoices against purchase orders and goods received paperwork, escalating any discrepancies
- Accurately code purchase orders and invoices in a timely manner
- Assist with tender and quotation processes, including collating supplier quotes and preparing comparisons
- Support the production of reports on project costs and supplier performance
- Attend supplier evaluation meetings and help track follow-up actions
- Assist with onboarding new suppliers in line with company processes
- Maintain accurate procurement records and supplier information on our systems
- Respond to routine queries from site teams and suppliers, referring complex issues to the Procurement Manager
- Build your knowledge of our procurement systems and processes, taking on increasing responsibility over time
What We're Looking For
Qualifications
- 5 GCSEs at grade C/4 and above, including Mathematics at grade B or above (essential)
- 3 A levels or an equivalent qualification, at pass grade
- CIPS Level 2 or 3 (desirable)
Skills & Experience
- A proactive, confident communicator, comfortable liaising between site teams, internal departments, and suppliers
- Good IT skills, including email, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Word
- Clear, professional written communication skills
- Knowledge of construction systems/terminology
- Experience with purchasing & procurement software / COINS ERP is desirable
- Experience of other aspects of internal fit-out and construction would be an advantage

Pay: £26,000.00-£30,000.00 per year
