About Birl
Birl is a fast-growing, award-winning circular commerce startup helping premium fashion brands recover value from damaged returns, excess stock and unsellable inventory.
We use technology, AI and operational infrastructure to turn items that might otherwise be written off or wasted into resale-ready products sold through brand-owned second-life sites and leading marketplaces.
Birl has recently been recognised as:
- #5 in Business Cloud’s Retail Tech 50 2026
- Winner of the UK E-commerce Innovation Award 2025 Recipient of three Innovate UK grants totalling c.£750k
- Shortlisted for the eBay Circular Fashion Fund Shortlisted for Emerging Ecommerce Technology at the Vervaunt Pulse Awards 2026
We are now building out our own operational capability in the North West and are looking for a hands-on, detail-oriented person to join us in our Rainhill warehouse.
The Role
This is a practical, varied role at the intersection of fashion, sustainability, technology and resale.
You will help process premium fashion inventory through Birl’s circular resale platform, ensuring products are accurately assessed, photographed, logged and prepared for sale across both brand-owned resale stores and online marketplaces.
The role would be particularly well suited to someone with an interest in:
- Premium fashion and garment quality
- Sustainability and the circular economy
- Resale, recommerce and second-hand marketplaces
- Fashion, textiles, e-commerce or retail operations
- Working in an ambitious early-stage startup environment
We are very open to hearing from fashion graduates, college or university students, including those looking for full-time summer work, as well as candidates with relevant warehouse, fashion, retail or e-commerce experience.
Key Responsibilities
You will support the day-to-day processing of premium fashion stock, including:
- Triaging incoming products such as dresses, jackets and other garments, assessing condition and identifying any visible faults or restoration needs
- Logging stock accurately into Birl’s platform, including item details, condition grading and other product information
- Photographing items using Birl’s in-house photography and listing tools
- Supporting listing automations, helping ensure products are correctly matched, enriched and prepared for resale
- Managing product flow from intake through to resale-ready status
- Quality checking listings and item data before products go live
- Supporting resale operations across brand-owned second-life websites and marketplaces such as eBay and Vinted
- Packing, organising and maintaining stock within the warehouse environment
- Helping identify ways to improve speed, accuracy and quality in the stock processing workflow
What We’re Looking For
We are looking for people with a genuine interest in premium fashion, a curious mind and real attention to detail. You should be:
- Highly organised and detail-oriented
- Naturally curious, keen to learn and quick to ask questions
- Comfortable working hands-on with physical products and stock
- Interested in fashion, product quality and garment condition
- Excited by sustainability, circular retail and keeping products in use for longer
- Confident using digital tools and technology platforms
- Reliable, proactive and able to work at pace
- Comfortable working in a small team where everyone contributes
- Able to follow clear processes while also flagging issues and suggesting improvements
Helpful, but not essential
- Experience in fashion, textiles, retail, resale or e-commerce
- Experience working with clothing quality control, garment inspection or product photography
- Familiarity with online marketplaces such as eBay, Vinted or Depop
- Experience with inventory systems, listing tools or warehouse processes
- Fashion, textiles, sustainability or business-related studies
