We have an exciting new role of IT & AV Technician for a September 2026 start.
As IT & AV Technician, you will assist the IT & Digital Services Manager and IT Team with key areas of work including the school’s IT network, IT hardware and software infrastructure, the installation, maintenance, and availability of AV equipment, and support the reprographics team with daily tasks. There is also the exciting opportunity for the right candidate to enrol on to an appropriate IT/Network Engineer Apprenticeship or equivalent after successfully passing their probation period.

Job Details
Salary: £18, 784 per annum including Crawley Weighting
Contract Type: Permanent
Working Pattern: Part time/Term time only. The position is 30 hours per week, 10-4.30pm Monday to Friday including a 1/2 hour unpaid break per day.

Job Description
Assist with the management, installation, maintenance, availability and security of the school’s network system ensuring the network is operational during agreed access hours and assist with fixing failure problems.
- Assist with the maintenance of software, hardware and related equipment.
- Undertake regular server monitoring, housekeeping and daily backups.
- Support staff and students with Bromcom and related issues.
- Set up new workstations, printers and hardware and install software in accordance with licences.
- Monitor the use of software across the network and maintain a list of authorised software and licences.
- Undertake any repairs as required, seeking assistance from the Senior IT Support.
- Support staff, students and third-party providers with the installation, maintenance and availability of the school’s AV equipment.
- Provide reprographics support including undertaking daily reprographic tasks and supporting staff and students receive resources in a timely manner.
- Assist the IT Support Helpdesk and tickets, update in a timely manner and escalate where necessary.
- Provide IT technical support to students, staff and other stakeholders.
- Assist with IT support for formal and informal examinations.
- Take responsibility for the upkeep and cleanliness of IT storage.
- Ensure compliance with the school’s IT acceptable usage policy and confidentiality policy.
- Ensure stock of consumables and parts are monitored and replenished as necessary.
- Support at evening and weekend events such as Open Evenings and Production. This will be included within contracted hours.
Other duties:
- To participate in INSET (Professional Development Days.)
- To participate in the staff appraisal processes of the school.
- Other duties as the IT & Digital Services Manager may reasonable require
- Adhere to school policies, the Staff Code of Conduct and the school’s Safeguarding Policy.
Qualifications:
- GCSE Grade A-C in English and Maths.
- Relevant IT qualification or shows a willingness to undertake further training.
- At the end of the probation period (six months) to enrol on to an appropriate IT/Network Engineer Apprenticeship or equivalent.

- Excellent attention to detail and the ability to work accurately even when under pressure.
- Willingness to adapt to changing needs and circumstances.
- The confidence to work effectively with staff, students and parents
- Excellent organisational and administrative skills including the ability to work to deadlines and the flexibility to take on new tasks as they arise
- Commitment to staff welfare, including being understanding, supportive and able to maintain confidentiality
