About the Role
We are seeking an organised and resourceful Technical Advisor to join our Housing Standards Team, who play a vital role in supporting residents to remain independent in their homes.
As the first point of contact for all enquiries into the Housing Standards Team, you will be responsible for carrying out financial assessments to determine applicants’ eligibility for Disabled Facilities Grants and other forms of housing assistance. You will manage the ongoing processing of grant and loan applications, ensuring accurate and timely progression.
You will also provide programme support for key initiatives, including the Handyperson Scheme, the Property Hardening Programme and a range of other Housing Standards services. This will involve organising casework for officers, managing associated administration, coordinating financial assistance approvals and payments, and liaising with officers where necessary to ensure smooth case progression.
In addition, you will offer administrative support to senior managers, including diary coordination, meeting management and other associated duties.
About You
You will have strong numeracy, literacy and IT skills, complemented by a highly organised and methodical approach to your work. Accuracy, attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities within strict deadlines are essential.
You will have demonstrable experience in a busy administrative and customer‑focused environment, with the ability to communicate professionally across a range of matters. You will be confident in using your initiative and capable of dealing appropriately with sensitive or contentious issues when required.
This role requires you to work effectively with vulnerable individuals and to liaise with a variety of external agencies. You should therefore be comfortable managing complex information with discretion and professionalism. Experience in supporting the delivery of projects or time‑critical programmes is also important.

About the Role
As the Housing Standards Technical Advisor, you will provide a vital administrative and coordination function across a range of housing standards services. Acting as a key point of contact for residents, landlords, partner agencies and Council officers, you will help ensure cases are managed efficiently and statutory processes are supported effectively.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Providing advice, information and signposting to residents and service users.
- Acting as the first point of contact for enquiries received by telephone, email and post.
- Managing and maintaining electronic case records and databases.
- Supporting officers with enforcement and licensing administration.
- Coordinating officer diaries, inspections and appointments.
- Processing purchase orders, invoices and payments.
- Gathering information and undertaking desktop research to support casework.
- Administering Caravan Site and HMO licensing processes.
- Coordinating referrals for housing adaptations and support services.
- Undertaking financial eligibility assessments and calculations.
- Producing performance information and maintaining accurate records.
About You
You will be an experienced administrator with excellent organisational and communication skills and the ability to work accurately in a fast-paced environment.
