We're recruiting for a brand-new padel club opening in Portsmouth, and we're looking for a passionate Head Coach to lead and shape our coaching programme from the ground up.
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced coach who wants more than just court time. You'll be responsible for developing and delivering a high-quality coaching programme, building a thriving player community, supporting the growth of other coaches, and helping establish Padel Quarter as the go-to destination for padel in the region. As a start-up business, you'll have genuine influence over how coaching is delivered and how the club grows.
Whether you're delivering group sessions, organising leagues and tournaments, or developing new programmes to increase participation, you'll be at the heart of creating an outstanding member experience.
What you'll be doing
- Leading and delivering a high-quality coaching programme for adults, juniors, beginners and advanced players
- Delivering individual and group coaching sessions to a consistently high standard
- Developing structured player pathways that encourage participation, progression and retention
- Supporting and mentoring employed and self-employed coaches
- Managing coaching schedules and resources to ensure effective programme delivery
- Organising coaching clinics, camps, tournaments, leagues and social events
- Building strong relationships with members, parents, guests and visitors
- Promoting memberships, coaching programmes and club events
- Driving participation, coaching revenue and court utilisation
- Supporting community engagement initiatives and growing the sport locally
- Maintaining high standards of safeguarding, health and safety, and coaching compliance
- Working closely with the Club Manager to support the overall success of the venue
What we're looking for
Essential:
- Recognised Level 2 Padel Coaching qualification (or currently working towards it)
- Experience delivering coaching programmes to a variety of ages and ability levels
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong leadership and team development capability
- Ability to build positive relationships with members and stakeholders
- Commercial awareness and an understanding of participation and revenue growth
- Strong organisational and planning skills
- Ability to work independently and take ownership of programme delivery
- Flexible approach to working evenings, weekends and holidays
- Positive, enthusiastic and professional attitude
- Commitment to safeguarding, equality, diversity and inclusion
Nice to have:
- Experience leading a coaching programme in a sports club or racquet sports environment
- Experience managing or mentoring coaches
- First Aid qualification
- Safeguarding qualification
- Experience organising tournaments, leagues, camps or events
- Knowledge of membership growth and sports participation programmes
- Experience working within a start-up or growing sports business
What you'll get
- Up to £39,000 per annum dependent on experience plus potential additional earnings

Hours
Full-time, 40 hours per week on a rota, including evenings and weekends.
