Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Assistant to support our culinary team in the bake house of The Bakery. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals passionate about bread and pasty. The successful candidate will assist with weighing and mixing doughs, scaling, shaping and baking, ensuring high standards of food safety and quality are maintained. Prior experience in a bakery setting is preferred, but full training will be provided for the right candidate. This paid position is ideal for those looking to develop their culinary skills and gain valuable industry experience.
Responsibilities
- Assist with food preparation, including weighing, mixing, and assembling ingredients
- Support the baking process by following recipes and instructions from senior baker
- Help with baking and other specialised food production tasks as required
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen area in accordance with food safety standards
- Ensure all equipment is used safely and correctly, reporting any faults or issues promptly
- Follow health and safety guidelines at all times to uphold a safe working environment
- Support the team during busy periods by efficiently managing multiple tasks simultaneously
- Contribute to maintaining stock levels and restocking ingredients as needed
Qualifications
- Previous experience in food production, cooking, or kitchen environments is desirable
- Knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices in hygiene
- Practical experience in food preparation, baking, or culinary activities preferred
- Strong organisational skills with an eye for detail
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
- Willingness to learn new skills and take on additional responsibilities as required
- Good communication skills and a positive attitude towards teamwork
