Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Secondary School Cover Manager to oversee classroom activities in the absence of regular teachers. This role involves ensuring a positive learning environment, maintaining student engagement, and supporting staff with specialised needs. Responsibilities
- Supervise and manage classes across various subjects during teacher absences, ensuring continuity of learning.
- Implement lesson plans provided by teachers or adapt activities as necessary to suit student needs.
- Support students with special educational needs, including those with autism or other disabilities, fostering an inclusive classroom atmosphere.
- Assist with behavioural management and promote positive behaviour strategies.
- Collaborate with teaching staff to prepare materials and organise classroom activities.
- Provide mentoring and tutoring support to students who require additional help in areas such as creative writing or other subjects.
- Maintain a safe and welcoming environment for all students, adhering to school policies and safeguarding procedures.
- Communicate effectively with students, staff, and parents regarding student progress or behavioural concerns.
Experience
- Prior experience working with children in an educational or childcare setting is highly desirable.
- Experience supporting individuals with special educational needs, particularly autism or disabilities, is advantageous.
- Background in teaching, tutoring, mentoring, or related roles demonstrates relevant skills for this position.
- Strong communication skills are essential for engaging effectively with students of diverse backgrounds and abilities.
- Knowledge of special education practices and inclusive teaching strategies will be beneficial.
- Creative writing experience can be an asset when supporting literacy development programmes. This role is vital in maintaining high standards of education and care within the school community.
