Indian Cook – Private Household
We are looking for an experienced, reliable and highly organised Indian Cook to work within a busy family household.
The role would suit someone who is confident preparing a wide variety of fresh, home-cooked Indian meals and takes real pride in maintaining exceptionally high standards of cleanliness and hygiene in the kitchen.
Working Hours
Monday to Friday8:00am – 12:00pm20 hours per week
Main Responsibilities
- Preparing and serving family breakfast
- Preparing fresh meals for the family for later in the day
- Cooking a varied selection of Indian dishes, including vegetarian and non-vegetarian meals
- Preparing dishes such as curries, daals, sabzis, rice dishes, rotis/parathas and other traditional home-style meals
- Being able to vary menus and prepare different dishes throughout the week
- Preparing ingredients, chopping vegetables and organising food in advance
- Keeping the kitchen, cooking areas, worktops and equipment spotlessly clean
- Washing and putting away cooking utensils and equipment used during food preparation
- Ensuring food is stored correctly and safely
- Monitoring basic kitchen ingredients and advising when groceries or ingredients need replenishing
- Maintaining excellent standards of personal hygiene and food hygiene at all times
The Ideal Candidate
We are looking for someone who:
- Has previous experience cooking Indian food, ideally within a private household or similar environment
- Can confidently cook a wide variety of authentic Indian dishes
- Is able to prepare healthy, fresh, home-style family meals
- Is extremely clean, hygienic and tidy
- Is reliable, punctual and trustworthy
- Can work independently without constant supervision
- Is organised and able to manage their time effectively
- Understands food safety and appropriate food storage
- Is respectful of working within a private family home
This is a permanent weekday position for the right person and would suit an experienced cook looking for regular morning hours within a busy household.
Pay: £12.71-£15.00 per hour
