Musical Theatre Teachers are a key role within B.A.Academy, focusing on the after-school provisions of our offerings. Working with children between the ages of 4 – 11, the Musical Theatre Teacher is responsible for the efficient, compliant and exciting facilitation of our sessions. Our sessions focus on the main areas of musical theatre: singing, dance and acting.
Main Duties
- Plan and deliver fun, engaging coaching activities, sessions and programmes which progress week on week focusing on musical theatre, team work and fun.
- Preparation and check of the activity space, ensuring all equipment is ready for use and any hazards are removed.
- Ensure a register is completed at the start of every coached session for children, keeping an accurate record of attendees.
- Ensure all equipment is maintained and that any faulty equipment is reported to responsible person.
- Ensure activities are carried out by participants safely and advise on appropriate behaviours to reduce risk of injury.
- Ensure all location health and safety requirements and rules are followed at all times, including fire evacuation procedures and food safety standards.
- Ensure a safe and appropriate hand over at the end of the session to the parents/carers/responsible adult of children.
Person Specification
Qualifications and educational skills
- An Enhanced DBS certificate is essential for the role. BA Academy may be able to support this where applicants do not have a current DBS.
- A valid Paediatric first aid certificate.
- Child Protection Level 1 or basic qualification.

Essential
- Previous and proven experience of teaching musical theatre (or at least one aspect of it).
- Excellent verbal communication skills with the ability to share your passion for musical theatre.
- Experience and proven record of delivering exceptional customer service.
- Excellent organisation and time management skills
- Flexible and willing to work as part of a team.
- Experience of working with Children between the ages of 4- 11.

- Professional qualifications.
