Key Account Manager
Mildenhall | Up to £40,000
Want more ownership of your accounts without having to spend half your week chasing new business?
This is a newly created Key Account Manager position with a UK manufacturer, taking responsibility for established customer accounts and the projects that sit behind them.
You'll be trusted to own the relationship and the delivery. From understanding the initial brief and agreeing commercials through to coordinating design, production and logistics, you'll stay close to the customer and the project from start to finish.
No cold business development. No handing a project over once the order lands.
It's a role for someone who likes being the person both the customer and the internal team rely on to keep things moving.
The role
You'll be the main point of contact for a number of key customers, understanding what they need and making sure it gets delivered.
That means taking briefs, working with design and estimating, managing quotations and pricing, coordinating planning, production and logistics, and keeping the customer informed throughout.
You'll have genuine end-to-end ownership rather than simply passing projects between departments.
There's a commercial side to the role too. You'll need to understand pricing, margins and the financial performance of your accounts while maintaining strong customer relationships.
What they're looking for
Someone who is comfortable managing both customers and projects.
You'll need to be organised, commercially aware and confident dealing with different internal teams to keep work moving.
Experience within POS, displays, packaging, print or another project-led manufacturing environment would make sense.
Your current title could be Key Account Manager, Account Manager, Senior Project Manager or similar. The title matters less than having experience taking responsibility for customer accounts and seeing projects through from initial brief to final delivery.
You'll also need to be comfortable handling the problems that inevitably come up along the way rather than simply escalating them elsewhere.
Why consider it?
The biggest difference is that you get the customer ownership of an account management role without being expected to spend your time hunting for new business.
It's also a newly created position, sitting between business development and the existing project/customer service function, with more responsibility and direct exposure to senior commercial leadership.
You'll have ownership of important accounts, visibility across the full project lifecycle and the opportunity to help shape how the role develops rather than stepping into something rigid.
It's a busy manufacturing environment and there will be pressure when projects peak. They aren't pretending otherwise. But they're conscious of work/life balance and the environment is less corporate than many larger businesses.
