Kitchen Porter – Full-Time, Annualised Hours
NAEC Stoneleigh, Warwickshire
We are looking for a competent, reliable and hardworking Kitchen Porter to join our catering team at NAEC Stoneleigh.
This is an important role within our small kitchen team, and an exceptionally high standard of cleaning and hygiene is essential. We need someone who takes pride in maintaining a clean, safe and organised kitchen, notices what needs doing and can be trusted to complete tasks thoroughly without constant supervision.
This is a full-time position working annualised hours around our events calendar. It is a hands-on and physically active role involving cleaning, lifting, moving equipment and supporting our chef team with the day-to-day operation of the kitchen.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain consistently high standards of cleanliness and hygiene throughout kitchens, preparation areas, stores and back-of-house areas.
- Thoroughly clean and sanitise work surfaces, floors, walls, shelving and kitchen equipment.
- Operate commercial dishwashers and pot-wash equipment, ensuring crockery, cutlery, utensils, pots and pans are cleaned and stored correctly.
- Carry out scheduled and reactive deep cleaning, ensuring all tasks are completed thoroughly and to the required standard.
- Keep pot-wash and kitchen areas clean, organised and safe throughout the working day.
- Complete all required cleaning schedules, checks and food safety records accurately using our iPad-based food safety system.
- Assist the chef team with basic food preparation and general kitchen duties as required.
- Support kitchen setup, service and clear-down for events.
- Receive deliveries and assist with moving and correctly storing stock.
- Move catering equipment, stock and supplies between kitchen and event areas when required.
- Correctly manage food waste, recycling and general waste.
- Follow all food hygiene, COSHH, manual handling and health and safety procedures.
- Identify cleaning, maintenance or safety issues and report them promptly.
- Support the wider catering team during busy event periods.
What We Are Looking For
We are looking for a competent person who can take responsibility for their own work and maintain our standards consistently.
You must:
- Have very high standards of cleanliness and hygiene.
- Understand what a properly cleaned and maintained commercial kitchen should look like.
- Be thorough and take pride in completing cleaning tasks properly.
- Be able to follow instructions and direction accurately.
- Be able to work independently and use your own initiative once tasks and expectations have been explained.
- Notice when something needs cleaning or completing and take action without always waiting to be asked.
- Have a strong work ethic and be prepared to get stuck in.
- Work efficiently while maintaining standards during busy and fast-paced events.
- Be physically capable of an active role involving regular lifting, carrying, bending, cleaning and prolonged periods on your feet.
- Be reliable, punctual and dependable.
- Be a team player. We are a small team, and everyone is expected to support one another.
- Have an excellent standard of spoken and written English to understand instructions, safety information and communicate effectively with colleagues.
- Be comfortable using an iPad or similar device and able to accurately complete electronic cleaning and food safety records.
- Previous experience in a commercial kitchen, professional cleaning environment or similar role is strongly preferred.

We need someone who can be relied upon to see what needs doing, follow direction, use their initiative and complete tasks properly. During major events our kitchens can be extremely busy, so you must be able to work at a good pace without allowing cleaning, hygiene or safety standards to slip.
