Job Overview
We are looking for a reliable and professional Class 1 Driver to join our busy commercial vehicle workshop operation. Based from our workshop in Beeston, you will play a key role in supporting the day-to-day transport of customer trailers and company assets. Your primary responsibilities will include collecting and delivering trailers, transporting trailers to and from MOT appointments, and supporting the workshop by ensuring vehicles and trailers are where they need to be to maintain an efficient workflow. While this is primarily a driving role, applicants with basic HGV or trailer maintenance knowledge will be at an advantage, as you may be required to assist with simple inspections or identify defects when moving equipment. Monday to Friday Dayshifts with occasional 6am starts (not every day). Overtime also available
Responsibilities
- Collect and deliver customer trailers to and from customer sites, workshops and testing stations.
- Transport trailers to MOT and other statutory inspection appointments.
- Liaise closely with Workshop Controllers and Service Advisors to ensure transport requirements are met.
- Support the efficient operation of the workshop by moving trailers and vehicles around the site when required.
- Carry out daily vehicle and trailer safety checks and report defects promptly.
- Ensure all transport paperwork is completed accurately.
- Maintain a professional image when representing the company at customer premises.
- Comply with all DVSA regulations, driver hours legislation and company procedures.
Requirements
- Full UK HGV Class 1 licence.
- Valid Driver CPC qualification.
- Valid Digital Tachograph Card.
- Good understanding of UK driver hours regulations.
- Excellent driving record.
- Strong communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
- Flexible approach to working hours when required.
- Basic HGV/truck maintenance knowledge - desirable
- Experience moving trailers - desirable
- Previous experience within a commercial Workshop - desirable
