Upholstery Pattern Maker
Based Huncoat, Nr Accrington

We are looking for an experienced Upholstery Pattern Maker to join our manufacturing team, responsible for developing accurate and production-ready patterns for upholstered furniture. Working from product designs, drawings and prototypes. The role requires a strong understanding of upholstery, fabrics and furniture construction, alongside excellent attention to detail and the ability to develop practical solutions that balance product appearance, quality and manufacturing efficiency.
The Role:
- Develop and produce accurate patterns and templates for chair components, including fabric, leather and upholstery elements.
- Create prototypes, samples and first-off products for testing and approval.
- Refine existing patterns to improve fit, appearance, quality and manufacturability.
- Work closely with upholsterers, sewing machinists, cutters and production teams throughout product development.
- Ensure patterns meet required dimensions, tolerances, quality standards and customer requirements.
- Maintain accurate pattern libraries, records and revision control.
- Identify and resolve pattern-related issues affecting quality, production and material utilisation.
- Support new product launches and engineering changes, ensuring patterns are production-ready.
- Identify opportunities to reduce material waste and improve manufacturing efficiency.
The Person:
- Good knowledge of upholstery and furniture construction.
- Experience developing patterns for fabric, leather or other upholstery materials.
- Able to interpret technical drawings and product designs.
- Experience using pattern development or CAD software.
- Good understanding of fabric properties, grain, stretch and pattern matching.
- The ability to work from prototypes and make accurate measurements.
- A practical, hands-on methodical approach to problem solving.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with Design, Product Development and Production teams.
- Capable of managing multiple projects and meet agreed development deadlines.
