The Senior Director Supply Chain UK & Ireland is an integral member of the European Supply Chain and the UK&I Leadership Team, responsible for leading one of CHEP's largest and most strategically important supply chain operations. With accountability for approximately 1,000 employees, and a network spanning 17 plants and third-party manufacturing locations across the UK and Ireland, this leader is responsible for delivering operational excellence, customer satisfaction, safety performance, and long-term network capability.
The role will define and execute the UK&I Supply Chain strategy, ensuring alignment with the broader European vision while driving local market performance. A key priority will be the implementation and adoption of strategic initiatives across automation, digitalisation, sustainability, customer experience, and operational transformation to improve network agility and business performance.
As the senior supply chain leader for the region, the position champions CHEP's Safety Differently culture, drives continuous improvement across production, logistics and asset flows, and develops the organisational capability required to support future growth. The role also plays a significant leadership role in shaping culture and building leadership capability.
Key Accountabilities
Lead the UK&I Supply Chain organisation to deliver world-class safety, operational, service, quality and financial performance across a network of plants, logistics operations and third-party partners.
Develop and execute the UK&I Supply Chain strategy and multi-year transformation roadmap covering network optimisation, operational processes, technology enablement and workforce capability.
Build and sustain a strong Safety Differently culture, ensuring compliance with health and safety requirements while striving for Zero Harm outcomes.
Drive operational excellence across production, logistics, planning and asset management to ensure customer requirements are consistently delivered on time and in full.
Lead the implementation of strategic programmes including automation, digitalisation, sustainability and customer experience initiatives to improve efficiency, resilience and competitive advantage.
Manage the UK&I Supply Chain budget and capital investment portfolio, ensuring disciplined decision making and delivery of expected returns.
Partner with European, commercial and functional leaders to ensure supply chain capability supports business growth, customer expectations and market requirements.
Develop long-term network capacity plans, optimise plant and logistics infrastructure, and identify opportunities to improve productivity and cost performance.
Build leadership capability across the organisation through coaching, succession planning, talent development and performance management initiatives.
Partner with HR and business leaders to deliver the people strategy, fostering an inclusive culture that supports employee engagement, wellbeing, diversity and organisational effectiveness.
Leverage operational and people analytics to identify trends, improve decision making and support strategic workforce planning.
Build and maintain effective relationships with customers, supply chain partners, suppliers, trade unions and key external stakeholders.
About the Person
An accomplished senior supply chain executive with a proven track record leading large-scale, multi-site operations within complex manufacturing, logistics, FMCG or industrial environments.
Strategic and commercially minded, capable of balancing long-term transformation goals with immediate operational priorities.
A visible and inspirational leader who can engage, develop and motivate large operational teams while creating a culture of accountability, inclusion and continuous improvement.
Experienced in leading significant change programmes, including network transformation, operational excellence initiatives, automation and technology deployment.
Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills, with the ability to operate effectively across local, regional and global leadership teams.
Data-driven and analytically minded, using insights and metrics to drive operational improvement and informed business decisions.
Passionate about safety, people development and delivering exceptional customer outcomes.
Experience
Significant senior leadership experience within supply chain, manufacturing, logistics or FMCG environments.
Proven success leading complex, multi-site operations and geographically dispersed teams.
Demonstrable experience delivering operational transformation, productivity improvement and large-scale organisational change.
Strong experience managing substantial operating budgets, capital investment programmes and strategic business initiatives.
Track record of developing leadership capability, building high-performing teams and driving employee engagement across large organisations
