Automotive Mechanic
Starting Pay: Up to £17.00 per hour
Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Automotive Mechanic to join our workshop team. The successful candidate will be responsible for diagnosing and repairing vehicles, and rectifying MOT failures and advisories. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals with a strong mechanical background and a passion for vehicle repair. We need someone who takes pride in technical precision and getting the job done.
Key Responsibilities
Diagnosis & Major Mechanical Repairs
- Non-Runners & MOT Failures: Repair vehicles and rectify all MOT failures and advisories to DVSA standards.
- Engine & Drivetrain: Perform clutch and gearbox repairs, injector and fuel system work, cambelt/timing chain repair, brakes & suspension, and steering repairs.
- Vehicle Prep: Carry out routine servicing (oil/filters) and general mechanical health checks to prepare vehicles for sale.
- Compliance: Ensure all work meets safety requirements and manufacturer specifications.
- Workshop Management: Maintain a safe, tidy workspace, keep accurate job records, and ensure diagnostic tools and equipment are well-maintained.
Requirements
Experience & Education:
- Experience: Minimum 7 years of proven experience in automotive repair and service (essential).
- Diagnostics: Minimum 5–7 years experience with automotive diagnostics and auto-electrics (essential).
- Education: Bachelor's Degree in Automotive Technology/Mechanical courses OR NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) is highly desirable.

- Starting Pay: Up to £17.00 per hour
- Schedule: 40 hours per week (10-hour shifts).
- Overtime: Extra hours available; Saturday work is optional.
