We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Head Chef/Kitchen Manager to lead our kitchen in our local village pub. The successful candidate will oversee daily kitchen operations, ensure the delivery of high-quality food, and maintain exceptional standards of food safety and hygiene. Duties
- Supervise and manage kitchen staff, including chefs, cooks, and kitchen assistants, ensuring efficient workflow and team cohesion
- Oversee food production, ensuring dishes meet quality standards and presentation expectations
- Plan menus in collaboration with management, incorporating seasonal ingredients and customer preferences
- Monitor food safety compliance, maintaining hygiene standards in line with legal regulations
- Coordinate food preparation and cooking activities to ensure timely service during busy periods
- Manage inventory levels, order supplies, and control food costs effectively
- Train and mentor staff on culinary techniques, safety procedures, and customer service standards
- Assist in serving customers when necessary, ensuring a positive dining experience for all guests
- Maintain a clean and organised kitchen environment at all times
Requirements
- Proven supervising experience within a professional kitchen setting, ideally within a restaurant or hospitality environment
- Extensive culinary experience with strong skills in food preparation and cooking techniques
- Demonstrable team management abilities with leadership qualities to motivate staff
- Knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices in hygiene standards
- Experience in food production planning and inventory control
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to work under pressure during peak hours
- Strong communication skills to effectively liaise with staff and management
- Previous restaurant experience is highly desirable, along with serving experience in a hospitality context
