1st Step Education and Training are an alternative education provider of vocational courses. We provide education to learners who have been excluded from mainstream education or unable to access a full-time timetable at school. Our students face many challenging and barriers to education.
Our wide range of courses include Barbering,Construction, Nail Technician and Catering. Our courses are offered both on-site at our city centre location and in schools.
We are currently looking to recruit for a number of new staff including student support mentor. The role of the student support mentor is to support our students in accessing their vocation and maintaining a productive enviornment of for learning.1st Step Education & Training provide a busy, productive and engaging environment with clear expectations of our students.
We are looking for someone that believes culture drives behaviour and behaviour becomes habit and habits become routine.
However, our learners may need reminding of our expectations and be guided in how best to meet them.
The role will include supporting the Tutor within lessons across all subjects, encouraging students, positive interactions and engagement with students, creating professional relationships with learners and working part of a team to create a productive working environment.
The ideal candidate will have experience in the following:
Addressing behaviour and attitudes with students
De-escalation techniques
Being a positive role model
Working within safeguarding policies
The candidate must pass an enhanced DBS and be willing to undertake training and staff development as required.
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Mentor to support the developmental and educational needs of children within our organisation. The ideal candidate will have experience working with young children, particularly in early childhood education or special education settings. This role involves guiding children through personalised learning activities, fostering positive behaviour, and providing encouragement to help them reach their full potential. The Mentor will play a vital role in creating a nurturing environment that promotes growth, confidence, and learning.
The working hours for this role is 9 am until 3.30 pm.
Pay: From £14.00 per hour
