AV Dawson, a family-run, Middlesbrough-based business and the owner and operator of The Port of Middlesbrough, is looking to expand its team in our Commercial Vehicle Services Workshop. With 88 years of experience in the logistics and transport sector, AV Dawson offers the opportunity to join a well-established and respected company.
We are currently looking to fill a vacancy for a HGV Technician in our Middlesbrough Workshop. Working a shift rota, 4 on 4 off (days only) to maintain Company and multiple clients equipment.
Job Description:
Previous experience in maintaining HGV’s to the recognized DVSA standards.
The key aspects of the role include:
- Carrying out routine inspections/MOT preparation in accordance with service and MOT standards and requirements.
- Diagnosing and rectification of service and driver defects using Jaltest diagnostic equipment.
- Completion of inspection sheets and job sheets on the current maintenance platform.
- Accurate booking of time and parts used to ensure accurate costings.
The successful candidate you will have:
- Level 3 or equivalent in HGV service and maintenance.
- Knowledge of diagnostic equipment. (training will be given on specific software)
- The ability to manage your own time with minimal supervision.
- Excellent communication skills.
- A good understanding of Health and Safety standards and procedures.
- Have the ability to work to a pre-determined work schedule to ensure the successful completion of work to the required timescale.
It would be advantageous if the successful candidate has:
- HGV licence advantageous but not essential.
- Fork truck certification.
- Knowledge of hydraulics.
- Fabrication experience.
