We are seeking an experienced Ofsted Registered Manager to work on a consultancy basis to provide interim leadership and support to our supported accommodation service for 16–17-year-olds.
This is a hands-on consultancy assignment suited to a confident and experienced leader who can quickly assess a service, identify areas for improvement, implement effective changes and ensure the service is operating in line with regulatory requirements and safeguarding expectations.
Working closely with Directors and key professionals, you will play an important role in stabilising the service, strengthening operational practice and supporting the organisation through a period of transition.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide effective interim leadership and management of the service.
- Assess current practice, identify gaps and implement clear, measurable improvement plans.
- Ensure the service operates in line with Ofsted requirements, Supported Accommodation Regulations and Quality Standards, as applicable.
- Promote high standards of safeguarding, risk management and young people’s welfare.
- Review and strengthen policies, procedures and operational systems.
- Review care/support planning, risk assessments and safeguarding processes to ensure they are robust and effective.
- Strengthen staffing structures, rotas, supervision and performance management.
- Coach, mentor and provide clear direction and support to staff, embedding consistent and accountable practice.
- Work collaboratively with Directors, professionals, local authorities and other external stakeholders.
- Prepare the service for regulatory scrutiny and support continuous improvement.
- Provide regular updates and recommendations to Directors on progress, risks and areas requiring further action.
About You
You will ideally have:
- Previous experience as an Ofsted Registered Manager within children's social care or supported accommodation.
- Strong knowledge and understanding of Supported Accommodation Regulations and Standards and wider children's social care regulatory frameworks.
- A proven track record of supporting services through Ofsted inspections, improvement programmes or service turnarounds.
- The ability to quickly identify operational, safeguarding and compliance issues and implement practical solutions.
- Strong leadership and people-management skills, with the confidence to manage teams in challenging or transitional environments.
- Excellent knowledge of safeguarding, risk management, care/support planning and quality assurance.
- The ability to work independently, make sound decisions and provide constructive challenge to senior leaders.
- Excellent communication and partnership-working skills.
- Immediate availability or the ability to commence the assignment quickly.
Desirable Experience
- Experience supporting new service registrations or registrations of new provision.
- Experience working within supported accommodation or semi-independent services for 16–17-year-olds.
- Multi-site, regional or senior operational management experience.
- Experience leading services through change, improvement or stabilisation.
