Cleaner (12 Hours per Week + Bank Cover)

Fixed Shift Pattern
We are looking for a reliable and hardworking Cleaner to join our Facilities team on the following fixed shifts:
- Thursday: 6:00am to 9:00am
- Friday: 6:00am to 9:00am
- Saturday: 6:00am to 9:00am
- Sunday: 6:00am to 9:00am
Plus: Additional bank cover shifts from 6:00am to 9:00am, Monday to Sunday, as required to cover holidays, sickness and events.

As a Cleaner at Future Youth Zone, you will play a vital role in ensuring our state-of-the-art facility remains clean, safe and welcoming for the thousands of young people, staff and visitors who use it each year.
Working as part of a supportive team, you will help maintain exceptional cleanliness standards across our large multi-purpose building, including activity spaces, offices, communal areas, toilets and sports halls. Job Purpose
The purpose of this role is to maintain the highest standards of cleanliness throughout Future Youth Zone, ensuring a safe, hygienic and welcoming environment for young people, staff and visitors.
The successful candidate will:
- Deliver high-quality cleaning across the building.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to ensure standards are consistently met.
- Support with holiday and sickness cover when required.
- Contribute to creating a positive and safe environment for the young people of Barking and Dagenham.
About Future Youth Zone
Future Youth Zone, located in Barking and Dagenham, opened in 2019 as London's first OnSide Youth Zone. The Youth Zone provides young people with somewhere to go, something to do and someone to talk to.
Our purpose is to help young people become happy, healthy and successful adults by providing access to outstanding facilities, positive role models and life-changing opportunities.
Based in a £6.15 million purpose-built facility at Parsloes Park, Future offers a wide range of activities including:

Key ResponsibilitiesCleaning Duties
- Clean designated areas as directed by the Facilities Officer or appropriate manager.
- Clean toilets, washrooms and associated facilities.
- Empty and sanitise bins.
- Mop, vacuum and clean floor surfaces.
- Use specialist cleaning equipment safely and effectively, including floor-cleaning machinery.
- Replenish consumable supplies such as soap, hand towels and toilet paper.
- Clean furniture, fixtures, glass surfaces, doors and communal areas.
- Move furniture and equipment when required to facilitate cleaning.
- Follow opening and closing procedures for the building.
- Report maintenance issues, hazards or damage promptly.
- Undertake any other reasonable duties requested by management.

Person Specification Essential Criteria
- Previous cleaning experience.
- Knowledge of safe cleaning practices and health and safety requirements.
- Ability to communicate clearly and follow instructions.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Good organisational and time-management skills.
- Ability to relate positively to a wide range of people, including young people.
- Willingness to work early mornings and weekends.
- Flexibility to provide additional cover for holidays, sickness and events.
- Ability to work bank shifts at short notice where reasonably possible.
- Commitment to safeguarding children and young people.
- Enhanced DBS check and Right to Work in the UK.
Desirable Criteria
- Ability to prioritise workloads effectively.
- Ability to undertake the physical requirements of the role, including bending, stretching, reaching and lifting within safe working practices.
- Experience of using commercial cleaning equipment.
