Job Summary
We are seeking a competent and motivated Asbestos Analyst to join our team. The successful candidate will carry out bulk sample analysis in accordance with current UK legislation, HSE guidance, and UKAS requirements, ensuring high standards of quality, accuracy, and health & safety at all times.
Key Responsibilities
- Undertake bulk asbestos sample analysis using polarised light microscopy (PLM/PCM) where required.
- Ensure all work complies with UKAS accreditation (ISO/IEC 17025)
- Maintain and calibrate analytical equipment as required.
- Follow laboratory quality systems, including internal audits, proficiency testing, and QA/QC procedures.
- Liaise professionally with clients, contractors, and colleagues.
- Adhere strictly to health & safety requirements and company policies at all times.
Essential Requirements
- BOHS P401
- Proven experience working as an Asbestos Analyst in a UKAS-accredited laboratory.
- Strong working knowledge of HSG248, HSG264, and relevant HSE guidance.
- Good understanding of UK asbestos legislation and analytical methods.
- High attention to detail and ability to produce accurate, compliant reports.
- Good communication and organisational skills.
Desirable Qualifications & Experience
- BOHS P401 (bulk analysis).
- Experience with quality management systems and UKAS assessments.
- Previous participation in audits and proficiency testing schemes (e.g. RICE, AIMS).
- Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively.
