Commissioning General Manager
Peterborough
£65,000 + Bonus
We are working with a growing care provider who are looking to appoint an experienced Commissioning General Manager to lead the opening and establishment of a new care home in Peterborough.
This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious Registered Manager / General Manager who has a strong track record of managing larger care homes and wants to take the next step into a commissioning-focused role.
You don't necessarily need previous commissioning experience. What matters is that you have successfully managed a care home of 50+ beds, have a strong track record with CQC, and can demonstrate your ability to drive occupancy and revenue within a private-paying market.
The Role
As Commissioning General Manager, you will take ownership of the home through its opening phase and beyond, building the foundations for a successful, high-performing service.
You will be responsible for:
- Leading the home through its commissioning and opening phase.
- Recruiting, developing and embedding a strong management and care team.
- Working closely with senior leadership and key stakeholders to ensure the home is fully operational and ready to welcome residents.
- Building strong relationships within the local community and developing referral and professional networks.
- Driving occupancy from opening through to maturity, with a strong focus on the private-pay market.
- Developing and implementing effective sales, marketing and business development strategies.
- Ensuring the home operates to the highest standards of care, quality and compliance.
- Maintaining strong CQC compliance and ensuring the service is inspection-ready from day one.
- Creating a positive culture centred around excellent resident experience and high-quality care.
- Managing budgets, staffing, performance and operational KPIs.
- Leading the home beyond its initial opening phase, with responsibility for its ongoing commercial and operational performance.
About You
We are looking for an established senior care professional who can demonstrate:
- Experience managing a care home of 50+ beds.
- A strong and demonstrable track record with CQC, ideally within a Good or Outstanding service.
- Proven experience driving occupancy, particularly within a private-paying environment.
- Strong commercial awareness and an understanding of the importance of occupancy, fee levels and revenue.
- The ability to recruit, lead and develop a high-performing team.
- Excellent relationship-building skills with residents, families, professionals and local stakeholders.
- Strong operational leadership and the confidence to take full ownership of a new service.
- A genuine passion for delivering outstanding standards of care and resident experience.
- Previous commissioning experience is not essential — candidates with a strong track record of successfully opening, growing or turning around established care homes will also be considered.
What's on Offer?
- £65,000 basic salary
- Performance-related bonus
- The opportunity to lead a brand-new care home from opening through to maturity.
- Significant autonomy and responsibility.
- The opportunity to make a genuine impact on the success of a new service.
- Support from an experienced senior leadership team.
- A long-term career opportunity within a growing care organisation.
