The NHS Long Term Plan has highlighted a need to grow pharmacy technician numbers to meet the increasing demand for clinical pharmacy roles across care settings. Rx Health Pharmacy is now recruiting 2 “Pre-registration Trainee Pharmacy Technicians” (PTPTs).
This post is a 2-year, fixed term contract position for Pre-Registration Trainee Pharmacy Technician Apprenticeship to undergo education and training to become a registered pharmacy accuracy checking technician (ACT).
We have partnered with SKills4Pharmacy who is an accredited training provider and PTPTs will be given time during work to complete distance/e-learning. This post is a stepping stone into a career within pharmacy and will help meet the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) Initial Education and Training (IET) Standards for pharmacy technicians.
The training will be undertaken under the supervision and support of our pharmacy team and pharmacist. The qualification will be a mixture of studying and showing competence within the workplace. As part of their training, PTPTs will be expected to demonstrate accuracy in the assembly of medicines and the checking of others as well as be able to undertake medicines reconciliation and supply.
On successful completion of the qualification you will qualify as a Pharmacy Technician and be eligible to register with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) paving the way for a fulfilling and rewarding career.
The appointed candidates will need to demonstrate that they are patient focused, have good interpersonal and communication skills, be a quick learner, keen to get involved and be committed to the training programme. The ability to cope with the discipline of studying whilst working as part of a team throughout this busy department is essential; therefore, a professional approach is key.
Total hours per week: 37.5 (Monday-Friday)
Eligibility to train as a PTPT: -
- Four GCSEs at Grade A*-C or equivalent including Mathematics, English Language, Science and one other subject (or equivalent pre-screening assessment).

Brief overview of Responsibilities:
- Assist pharmacists in dispensing medications to patients

Experience:
- Previous experience in a pharmacy is recommended, but not a requirement

- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in medication preparation
- Excellent communication skills to interact with patients and healthcare professionals
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks effectively
- Knowledge of patient care principles and medication administration procedures
