Purpose of the post:
To prepare and serve nutritious meals within a safe and compliant kitchen environment while building positive relationships with young people. The postholder will play an important role in supporting students' wellbeing, encouraging healthy eating, and working collaboratively with staff to help students access food and drink in ways that meet their individual needs.
We are looking for someone who enjoys cooking and genuinely likes working with young people. You do not need to be a teacher or therapist, but you will be an important trusted adult in students' daily lives. We can teach you about our approaches to SEMH, sensory needs and trauma-informed practice; what matters most is warmth, flexibility, good judgement and a commitment to helping young people thrive.

Essential
- Food Safety Level 2 or equivalent.
- Experience preparing food for groups.
- Understanding of food hygiene and kitchen health and safety.
- Ability to build positive relationships with young people.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Flexible and proactive approach to problem-solving.
- Willingness to learn about SEMH and sensory needs.
Desirable
- Experience working with children or young people.
- Experience in education, youth work, care, community or social enterprise settings.
- Knowledge of sensory-based eating challenges.
