The Open Bakery is an award winning local family business. The family have been baking in Brighton since 1997. We are a truly authentic bakery, honouring traditions and customs from bakeries across Europe. We prepare everything fresh on the day for our two shops, we also run baking classes throughout the week and weekend.
5 days a week - either at our Queen's Park shop or running Market Stalls around Sussex.
The markets are in different locations and run on Thursday, Friday and Saturday which you will attend by your self with two people on the busy Arundel market once a month. The other two shifts will be a supervisor shift at our Queen's Park Shop.
Once a week you will need to cash up the market till, organise any cash that needs banking , running van maintenance checks and topping up the bakery with flour from the flour store.
The Supervisor/Barista part of the job would be at out Queen's Park Shop, with potential cover at our Kemptown site. Shifts are normally 8 hours long, and start early at 6am. The closing shift is normally finished by 5pm. This is very much a customer facing role, along with helping the Manager with the daily operations of the shop.
Pay is £14.60 per hour, with an inflated rate of pay on Good Friday
Shifts are 5 days a week - we operate Monday - Saturday, availability through out the week essential
Essential requirements for role
- A full clean UK driving licence for at least 5 years
- proven experience making excellent coffee in a high volume location
- Good organisation skills, a pragmatic approach. Be able to work independently on your own and as a part of a small team
- Visual display skills with attention to detail
- Positive attitude and customer service
- Heaving lifting is a large part of the role, this would involve flour bags and creates of bread.
