About the Role
We’re expanding our accredited laboratory and looking for a practical, detail‑focused technician to support environmental chemistry and geotechnical testing. This role suits both new starters looking to begin a career in laboratory work and experienced technicians seeking a stable, well‑structured UKAS environment with varied daily testing.
You’ll work with soil, water, leachates, and construction materials, generating high‑quality data for environmental, remediation, and geotechnical projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and analyse environmental samples (soil, water, leachates) using routine chemistry methods
- Carry out geotechnical tests such as moisture content, grading, and classification
- Record results clearly and follow UKAS‑compliant procedures
- Operate balances, ovens, meters, and other standard lab equipment
- Support calibrations, QA checks, and daily workflow
- Maintain a tidy, safe, and organised workspace
Who This Role Suits
Entry‑Level Candidates:
- Interested in environmental science, chemistry, geology, or construction
- Good numeracy and written accuracy
- Practical mindset and willingness to learn
- GCSEs including science/maths (A‑Level or HNC desirable)
Experienced Technicians:
- Background in environmental chemistry, geotechnical testing, or analytical lab work
- Familiar with BS, BRE, or UKAS/ISO 17025 procedures
- Confident working independently and maintaining data integrity
- Looking for a stable, well‑run accredited lab environment
