We're seeking an experienced and driven Greenspace Operative to lead the delivery of grounds maintenance and landscaping services across a varied portfolio of commercial and public-sector contracts.

The Role
As Greenspace operative, you will be responsible for the day-to-day management of grounds maintenance operations, ensuring all works are delivered safely, efficiently, and in accordance with contractual requirements.
You will lead operational teams across multiple sites, maintain strong client relationships, and drive performance through effective planning, resource management, and quality control.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the delivery of grounds maintenance contracts across commercial, local authority, education, and residential environments.
- Lead, motivate, and develop grounds maintenance operatives and team leaders.
- Plan schedules, allocate resources, and ensure work programmes are completed on time and within budget.
- Monitor performance against contract specifications and service level agreements.
- Carry out regular quality inspections and site audits to ensure the highest standards are achieved.
- Develop and deliver landscape improvement and enhancement projects.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety legislation, company policies, and environmental standards.
- Manage machinery, fleet, equipment, and material resources effectively.
- Build strong relationships with clients, responding promptly to feedback and service requirements.
- Support business growth by identifying opportunities for additional services and contract improvements.
About You

Essential Skills and Experience
✔ Proven experience within grounds maintenance, landscaping, horticulture, or a related environmental services sector.
✔ Previous experience managing teams and delivering services across multiple sites.
✔ Sound understanding of commercial grounds maintenance contracts and client expectations.
✔ Strong knowledge of landscaping techniques, horticultural practices, and seasonal maintenance programmes.
✔ Experience operating and managing grounds maintenance equipment and machinery.
✔ Good understanding of health and safety legislation, risk assessments, and compliance requirements.
✔ Excellent organisational, planning, and communication skills.
✔ Full UK driving licence.
Desirable
- Industry qualifications in Horticulture, Landscaping, or Land-Based Operations.
- PA1/PA6 spraying certificates.
- Experience managing local authority or commercial contracts.
- Relevant health and safety qualifications (IOSH, SMSTS, or equivalent).
