We are seeking a practical, proactive and reliable self-employed Grounds Maintenance Contractor to provide weekly inspection, cleaning and basic maintenance services across 12 Tennis in Merton sites and 11 Tennis in Harrow sites.
This is a hands-on outdoor contract requiring approximately 28 hours of service provision each week. The anticipated service pattern is approximately two days in Merton and two days in Harrow. However, the contractor will be responsible for organising their own working schedule and routes, subject to every site being visited and checked weekly and all agreed services being completed.
The contractor must provide their own suitable vehicle and standard tools due to the travel, equipment transportation and practical work involved.
Scope of Services
- Visiting and inspecting all Merton and Harrow sites each week
- Maintaining the cleanliness, safety and professional appearance of the tennis courts and surrounding areas
- Undertaking leaf-blowing, litter removal and general outdoor cleaning
- Completing minor DIY repairs and routine maintenance
- Identifying and reporting safety concerns, damage and larger repair requirements
- Transporting equipment, tools and stock between venues
- Changing court access codes on a fortnightly basis
- Updating and installing approved signage and marketing boards
- Creating and maintaining an efficient weekly site schedule
- Providing photographic updates and completed site reports
- Completing monthly recycling centre trips
- Supporting additional seasonal maintenance or special projects where separately agreed
Contractor Requirements
The successful contractor must:
- Have previous experience in grounds maintenance, property maintenance, handyman services or a similar practical field
- Be registered as self-employed and responsible for their own tax and National Insurance
- Hold a full UK driving licence and provide their own suitable vehicle
- Provide their own standard tools and maintenance equipment
- Hold appropriate public liability insurance
- Be capable of working independently and managing a multi-site service schedule
- Demonstrate a reliable, organised and thorough approach
- Be reasonably located for travel across both Merton and Harrow
- Submit invoices and completed site reports for services delivered
- Be responsible for the quality of their work and remedy any inadequate work
- Be free to provide services to other clients
- Be able to provide a suitably qualified and insured substitute where necessary, subject to reasonable safety, safeguarding and security requirements
PA1 and PA6A pesticide certificates are desirable but not essential.
Contract Details
- £15 per hour
- Approximately 28 service hours per week
- Anticipated service pattern of two days in Merton and two days in Harrow
- The contractor will determine their own schedule and routes, subject to weekly service requirements
- Services to be invoiced monthly with completed site reports
- Vehicle, fuel, insurance, tax and ordinary tools are the contractor’s responsibility
- Branded identification or safety clothing will be provided where required for site access
- Additional projects may be quoted and agreed separately
- This is a self-employed contract for services and does not include holiday pay, sick pay or employee benefits
