Barnardo’s is committed to providing ‘Better Outcomes for More Children’. Our children’s services volunteers help the charity to deliver essential services in local communities, providing support to over 300,000 children, young people and their families. This role provides a great opportunity to join our fantastic children’s services and help make a real difference. **Barnardo’s drivers** transport children and families, using their own vehicles, to community groups, appointments and social activities, such as parent and toddler groups. Drivers provide a vital support to families who would otherwise be socially isolated and not able to engage in much needed social interactions and appointments. We are looking for friendly and approachable individuals, able to communicate well with people from a wide range of backgrounds, with access to their own vehicle and a full clean UK driving licence. **The Dundee Children & Family Support Service** is looking for volunteer drivers who can use their own vehicles to help transport children and young people with additional support needs from one location to another as part of our school holiday activity days. Volunteers will need to have correct cover on their vehicle to transport children and young people in a volunteer role. We are looking for flexible commitment over school holidays - for example 30 minutes for each help of transport. Normally the role would include picking up 1-2 children, and usually there will be another volunteer/staff member in the car helping with transport. All volunteer drivers will need to complete our recruitment and induction (including a PVG disclosure check). Mileage expenses can be claimed back. Our activity days run over the April holidays (2 weeks), summer holidays (6 weeks) and October holidays (2 weeks). Potentially there might be other opportunities to help with transport for other groups that run, but support over school holidays would be beneficial to the service. This role helps support children and young people with additional support needs to access fun activities in their local community while providing respite to parents/carers.
