ABOUT FORMOSA LANDSCAPES
Formosa Landscapes is an award-winning landscape design and construction company specialising in high-end outdoor spaces for private residential clients across London and the Home Counties.
Our projects are detailed, design-led, technically demanding and built to last. They incorporate high-quality hard landscaping, bespoke timberwork, drainage, lighting, irrigation and carefully considered planting.
With a strong and growing programme of work, we are looking for an experienced Landscape Foreman or Forewoman to lead our site teams and take day-to-day responsibility for delivering exceptional residential gardens.
THE ROLE
You will be the key person on the ground, ensuring each project runs smoothly, safely and to the standard our clients expect—from initial setting out and groundworks through to planting and final finishing.
This is a hands-on leadership role. You will be expected to lead the team effectively while remaining practically involved in the construction work when required.
Exceptional communication will be central to the role. You will keep Formosa’s management and design teams informed of site progress, upcoming requirements, problems and developments throughout each project.
WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING
- Leading, organising and motivating a small landscape construction team
- Planning daily activities and allocating work effectively
- Reading and working accurately from landscape plans, construction drawings and specifications
- Setting out works and managing levels accurately
- Overseeing groundworks, drainage and site preparation
- Overseeing natural stone and porcelain paving, walling, brickwork, decking and timber structures
- Overseeing soil preparation, turfing, planting and final garden presentation
- Managing materials, deliveries, machinery and site logistics
- Coordinating subcontractors and specialist trades when required
- Monitoring workmanship, productivity and project programme
- Maintaining high standards of finish and quality control throughout
- Identifying potential issues before they affect the programme or finished work
- Communicating site progress, requirements and problems clearly to management
- Liaising professionally with the design team, project managers, contractors and clients
- Maintaining an organised, safe and presentable site
- Ensuring health and safety standards and site procedures are upheld
- Taking responsibility for the proper use and care of company vehicles, tools and machinery
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
The successful applicant will have:
- At least seven years’ professional landscaping experience
- Proven experience leading landscaping crews on high-end residential projects
- Strong practical hard and soft landscaping knowledge
- The ability to read technical drawings and set out accurately from plans
- A thorough understanding of levels, drainage and landscape construction methods
- Experience planning labour, materials, deliveries and daily workloads
- Excellent attention to detail and a strong commitment to quality
- Exceptional communication and organisational skills
- A proactive approach to problem-solving
- The ability to work calmly and effectively under pressure
- A professional and respectful manner when working at clients’ homes
- Experience operating a range of construction tools and landscape machinery
- A good understanding of construction health and safety
- A full UK driving licence
Relevant qualifications such as an NVQ, CSCS card, SSSTS or SMSTS, first aid, CPCS or NPORS machinery certification would be advantageous. However, proven experience, leadership ability and the quality of your previous work are most important.
WHAT WE OFFER
- Salary of £43,000–£48,000, depending on experience and capability
- Company van for business use
- Full-time, permanent employment
- Company pension
- Paid annual leave
- Branded uniform and appropriate PPE
- Ongoing training and professional development
- Support from Formosa’s directors and design team
- A consistent pipeline of high-quality residential projects
- The opportunity to work on distinctive, design-led gardens
