About the Role
ACAA is seeking a committed and enthusiastic Volunteer Farsi Language Teacher to support the delivery of our Supplementary School Programme in Westminster.
The role focuses on supporting children and young people to learn and develop their Farsi language skills while strengthening their understanding of Farsi culture, heritage, identity and traditions. The teacher will help learners build confidence in speaking, listening, reading and writing Farsi within a safe, welcoming and inclusive learning environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and deliver engaging Farsi language lessons and learning activities.
- Support children and young people in developing speaking, listening, reading and writing skills in Farsi.
- Help learners understand and appreciate Farsi culture, heritage and traditions.
- Create a safe, positive and inclusive learning environment.
- Encourage confidence, participation and progression.
- Work collaboratively with ACAA staff, volunteers and parents/carers.
- Maintain attendance records and provide feedback on learner progress.
- Promote equality, inclusion and respect within the classroom.
Safeguarding & Participant Welfare
- Follow ACAA safeguarding policies and report concerns appropriately.
- Maintain confidentiality and comply with GDPR requirements.
- Create a safe, supportive and culturally sensitive environment for children and young people.
- Be responsive to the individual learning needs of participants.
- This role is subject to an Enhanced DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check. Volunteers must be willing to undergo an Enhanced DBS check before commencing regulated activity with children and young people.
Qualifications and Skills
Essential:
•Good spoken and written Farsi language skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work positively with children, young people and families.
- Patient, supportive and encouraging approach to learning.
- Commitment to equality, inclusion and community development.
- Willingness to undertake an Enhanced DBS check and comply with ACAA safeguarding policies and procedures.
Desirable:
- Previous teaching, tutoring, mentoring or training experience.
- Relevant educational background or qualification.
- Experience working with children and young people.
- Understanding of safeguarding and inclusive practice.
