Plant Maintenance Engineer About the Role
We are looking for an experienced and motivated Plant Maintenance Engineer to carry out scheduled servicing, inspections and maintenance on a range of heavy plant and construction machinery.
The successful candidate will be responsible for completing servicing at 100, 500, 1,000, 1,500 and 2,000-hour intervals, ensuring all work is carried out safely, efficiently and to a high standard.
You will play an important role in maintaining machine reliability and identifying potential issues before they become costly repairs. The role requires a strong mechanical aptitude, excellent attention to detail and a professional approach to customer service.
Plant Maintenance Engineer Key Responsibilities
- Complete scheduled servicing at 100, 500, 1,000, 1,500 and 2,000-hour intervals.
- Carry out thorough machine health checks during every service.
- Identify, record and report defects and potential maintenance issues.
- Prepare accurate estimates for additional repair work and parts where required.
- Complete job cards, service reports, paperwork and timesheets accurately and within agreed timescales.
- Request required parts efficiently and ensure work is completed promptly.
- Provide a high level of customer service and maintain positive relationships with customers and colleagues.
- Work efficiently while maintaining excellent standards of workmanship, safety and professionalism.
- Follow all relevant servicing, inspection and maintenance procedures.
- Ensure all work and personal equipment complies with applicable health and safety standards.
- Maintain a professional image when representing the business at customer sites.
- Take responsibility for your own health and safety, as well as that of colleagues and customers.
- Ensure all personal tools and equipment are safe, suitable and legal to use.
- Use appropriate lifting equipment and workshop equipment provided for the safe completion of maintenance work.
Plant Maintenance Engineer Key Skills & Experience
- Strong mechanical aptitude and practical problem-solving skills.
- Experience servicing and maintaining heavy tracked plant and construction machinery.
- Experience working with JCB or similar heavy plant equipment is highly desirable.
- Ability to carry out detailed machine health checks and accurately identify defects.
- Excellent attention to detail when completing reports, estimates and service documentation.
- High standards of workmanship with the ability to work efficiently and independently.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Good critical-thinking and diagnostic skills.
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
- Strong customer awareness and commercial understanding.
- Ability to work independently and manage workload with minimal supervision.
- Comfortable working on, under and around heavy plant machinery while following safe working practices.
- Full, clean driving licence is essential.
