Duties
- Precisely splice fibre optic cables using industry-standard techniques to ensure optimal performance and connectivity.
- Install fibre infrastructure on construction sites, in office buildings, and educational facilities, adhering to project specifications and safety protocols.
- Use hand tools, power tools, and specialised equipment to prepare cables, connectors, and enclosures efficiently.
- Conduct testing and troubleshooting of fibre links to identify faults or performance issues and implement effective repairs.
- Collaborate with project managers, electricians, and other trades to coordinate installation schedules and ensure seamless project execution.
- Maintain detailed records of splicing activities, test results, and equipment used for quality assurance purposes.
- Assist with additional tasks such as welding or mechanical adjustments when required to support overall infrastructure integrity.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Fibre Splicer with a strong understanding of fibre optic technology and installation practices.
- Valid CSCS or ECS card demonstrating compliance with industry safety standards.
- Proficiency in using hand tools, power tools, and specialised fibre splicing equipment.
- Mechanical knowledge with the ability to handle welding or mechanical adjustments if needed.
- Electrical experience or background is highly desirable for troubleshooting complex systems.
- Familiarity with working on diverse environments including building sites, offices, and schools.
- Ability to read technical drawings, schematics, and project specifications accurately.
