Job Purpose
To provide a reliable and professional warehouse and delivery service, including the safe handling, preparation and transportation of hazardous goods to UK ports, docks and customer locations.
The role requires a valid ADR licence and involves responsibility for ensuring goods are correctly prepared, documented, loaded, secured and delivered in accordance with ADR regulations, COSHH requirements and company procedures.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
Warehouse
· Receive and check incoming goods against delivery documentation.
· Pick, prepare and pack orders for dispatch.
· Handle and store hazardous goods safely and in accordance with relevant regulations and company procedures.
· Ensure goods are correctly packaged, labelled and documented before dispatch.
· Prepare goods and paperwork for delivery.
· Load and unload vehicles safely and in accordance with relevant risk assessments.
· Maintain accurate stock records and assist with stock checks.
· Keep the warehouse clean, tidy and organised.
· Ensure hazardous and COSHH-controlled products are stored safely in the correct racking or designated storage locations.
· Follow the company's COSHH procedures and controls when handling, storing and moving hazardous substances.
· Ensure appropriate PPE is worn when handling COSHH products and other hazardous goods.
· Report any damaged, leaking or defective containers immediately and follow the relevant company procedures.
· Follow company health and safety procedures and risk assessments at all times.
Driving & Deliveries
· Safely transport hazardous goods to UK ports, docks and customer locations.
· Carry out collections and deliveries as required.
· Plan delivery routes efficiently and ensure timely arrival at destinations.
· Ensure all loads are correctly secured before leaving the premises.
· Complete delivery notes, ADR documentation and other relevant paperwork accurately.
· Obtain proof of delivery and customer signatures where required.
· Liaise professionally with customers, port and dock personnel.
· Follow all site-specific safety, security and access procedures.
· Carry out daily vehicle safety checks and report any defects or issues immediately.
· Maintain the vehicle in a clean, safe and roadworthy condition.
ADR & Dangerous Goods
· Ensure all dangerous goods are transported in accordance with current ADR regulations.
· Check that the correct documentation accompanies each consignment.
· Ensure goods are correctly marked, labelled, packaged and secured.
· Ensure the vehicle carries the required ADR equipment.
· Follow correct procedures for loading, unloading and transporting hazardous goods.
· Follow relevant COSHH controls when handling hazardous substances within the warehouse and during loading and unloading activities.
· Report any incidents, damage, spillages or discrepancies immediately.
· Maintain all required ADR qualifications and training.
· Health, Safety & Compliance
· Maintain your own safety at work and that of colleagues by following all relevant company health and safety procedures.
· Follow all risk assessments relevant to the role, including those relating to COSHH, manual handling, loading and unloading and the use of warehouse equipment.
· Wear the required PPE at all times when handling hazardous goods or COSHH-controlled products.
· Ensure hazardous substances are handled, stored and transported in accordance with company procedures and COSHH requirements.
· Report any hazards, incidents, near misses, spillages or unsafe conditions to your line manager promptly.
· Cooperate with any investigation into incidents, accidents or near misses.
· Ensure consistent processes are followed in line with company procedures and audit requirements.
· Person Specification
Essential
· Full UK driving licence appropriate for the vehicle.
· Valid ADR licence.
· Good understanding of ADR requirements and dangerous goods transportation.
· Awareness of COSHH requirements and safe handling of hazardous substances.
· Good understanding of health and safety procedures and risk assessments.
· Reliable and punctual.
· Strong attention to detail.
· Good organisational skills.
· Ability to work independently.
· Professional and courteous manner when dealing with customers and site personnel.
· Physically capable of loading and unloading goods safely.
Desirable
· Previous experience delivering hazardous goods.
· Experience delivering to UK ports and docks.
· CPC qualification.
· Forklift licence.
· Previous warehouse experience.
· Experience with ADR, COSHH and delivery documentation.

Working Conditions
The role is split between warehouse duties and driving. The successful candidate will regularly travel to UK ports and docks and may be required to load and unload goods, including hazardous materials, in accordance with appropriate safety procedures.
The role involves working with COSHH-controlled substances and dangerous goods, and therefore requires strict adherence to company procedures, risk assessments, PPE requirements and relevant legislation.
