Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced Senior Electrical Design Engineer specialising in Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) and Solar energy projects. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in the development, design, and optimisation of electrical systems for renewable energy solutions. Duties
- Lead the electrical system design for BESS and solar projects, ensuring compliance with industry standards and client specifications.
- Develop detailed schematics and technical drawings using AutoCAD, Revit, and MicroStation.
- Perform system modelling and simulations with Simulink and MATLAB to validate design concepts.
- Conduct root cause analysis on system faults and troubleshoot complex electrical issues using C++, Python, or Perl scripting where applicable.
- Design control systems incorporating programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and ARM microcontrollers for automation purposes.
- Oversee the integration of surface mount technology (SMT) components, firmware development, and debugging processes.
- Collaborate with mechanical engineers to ensure seamless system integration, applying mechanical knowledge where necessary.
- Prepare technical documentation including schematics, system specifications, and installation instructions.
- Support manufacturing processes such as soldering, signal processing optimisation, and surface mount assembly techniques.
- Engage in continuous improvement activities by analysing system performance data and implementing enhancements.
Requirements
- Proven experience in electrical engineering with a focus on renewable energy systems such as BESS and solar power.
- Proficiency in CAD tools including AutoCAD, Revit, MicroStation, and SolidWorks for detailed design work.
- Strong knowledge of system design principles, schematic creation, and electrical circuit analysis.
- Familiarity with programming languages such as Python, C++, Perl, and firmware development for embedded systems.
- Experience with Simulink, MATLAB for simulation modelling; knowledge of SoC architectures is advantageous.
- Practical understanding of programmable logic controllers (PLCs), ARM microcontrollers, debugging techniques, soldering skills, and surface mount technology (SMT).
- Ability to perform root cause analysis on complex electrical faults efficiently.
- Mechanical knowledge relevant to integrating electrical components within mechanical assemblies.
- Excellent organisational skills with attention to detail in technical documentation.
- A recognised degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline; additional certifications or specialised training in renewable energy systems are desirable.
