You will be working for an established charity that proactively works to prevent young sudden cardiac deaths through awareness, screening and research as well as supporting families following a young sudden cardiac death.
We are looking for a Driver/Events Assistant to support our screening events by driving the CRY van between the head office and the venues throughout the UK. Additionally you are required to help set up & set down at CRY screening events.
References to ‘events’, although primarily relating to cardiac screening events, also refers occasionally to fundraising events and other types of CRY events (e.g. London Marathon, launches of initiatives).
Main duties:
- Driving the CRY van to and from events throughout the UK (i.e. England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales).
- Loading / unloading the CRY van before and after events. This will involve liaising with other members of CRY staff (e.g. screening team, despatch) to ensure that all necessary items are taken to an event.
- Events Assistance: Setting up / dismantling medical screens and equipment; being available for ad hoc requests including miscellaneous driving errands; lifting and carrying as required. Manual handling training will be provided.
- Van maintenance - Cleaning the CRY van and carrying out vehicle checks before each journey - oil level, water level, windscreen washer level, tyres tread depth and tyre pressures (including spare) and refill the van with fuel. Taking corrective action as necessary.
Ad-hoc administrative duties:
· This may include booking in clients on a laptop when they arrive, taking people’s heights and weights if required and being aware of emergency evacuation procedures.
Due the sensitive nature of its work, all CRY staff are expected to hold a current DBS certificate.
Qualifications:
Essential:
· Full Driving License

· GCSE Maths and English (or equivalent).
