Flour Coffee Shop & Deli isn't just a standard coffee shop! As a micro bakery, we make all our own superb cakes, scones, breads, preserves, quiches, gourmet sausage rolls and more right here on the premises, fresh every day. All food on the menu is cooked fresh to order, including our amazing handmade burgers, stonebaked pizzas and daily specials. Our adjoining deli shop has an excellent range of foods, both local and from overseas. It also offers a gorgeous selection of cards and gifts for all occasions as well as selling our home-baked breads and other Flour produce. We take Flour to events, we wholesale our preserves and we make fabulous cakes to order. As we strive to evolve and grow, we have further expansion plans in the pipeline so this is an exciting time for you to be joining our team!
Job Overview
We are seeking a friendly, dynamic and experienced Supervisor to oversee the daily front of house operations within our well-established, busy coffee shop in the village of Meigle. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing our front of house team (7), ensuring exceptional customer service, and maintaining high standards of food presentation and overall hygiene of the shop. This role offers an exciting opportunity for individuals with a passion for hospitality, team management, and culinary excellence to lead a vibrant team in a fast-paced setting. Previous experience in food hospitality or barista roles is highly desirable, along with strong organisation and communication qualities plus a genuine commitment to delivering outstanding customer experience.
This position has the potential for the right candidate to grow with the business and to become a fuller management role as Flour evolves and expands its activities.
Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate front-of-house staff to ensure smooth service, including preparation of the monthly rotas
- Oversee food displays and serving processes, maintaining high standards of quality and presentation
- Lead by example in delivering excellent customer service and hospitality
- Manage reservations, seating arrangements and customer enquiries efficiently
- Ensure compliance with food safety regulations and hygiene standards
- Train new team staff in service procedures and company policies
- Handle customer feedback and resolve any issues promptly and professionally
- Monitor stock levels of front-of-house supplies and coordinate replenishment as needed
- Collaborate with kitchen to ensure seamless communication and team-working between front and back of house
Key Skills
- Proven supervising experience within a busy, fast-paced hospitality environment
- Strong team management and leadership abilities
- Knowledge of food preparation, display & handling and food safety standards
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to multitask effectively under pressure
- Exceptional communication skills to interact confidently with customers, staff and business owners
- Ability to manage stressful situations calmly whilst maintaining professionalism
- Passion for delivering outstanding customer experiences and fostering team cohesion
