Malthouse Surgery is looking for a motivated and enthusiastic GP Assistant to join our expanding team. This is an exciting opportunity to work at the heart of a busy and forward-thinking GP practice, supporting clinicians, coordinating patient care, and helping to ensure our patients receive the right care at the right time.
About the Role
As a GP Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting our GPs and wider clinical team. You will be responsible for managing clinical tasks, coordinating patient communication, supporting the triage process, and helping ensure the smooth running of the practice.
This is a varied role that combines administrative, organisational, and patient-facing responsibilities, making it ideal for someone who enjoys problem-solving and working collaboratively within a healthcare setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Supporting GPs by actioning clinical tasks and communicating with patients
- Processing documents and ensuring actions are completed before reaching clinicians
- Managing and supporting the daily triage system
- Booking appropriate appointments and coordinating patient care
- Monitoring appointment capacity and demand
- Producing reports and analysing practice data to support service planning
- Supporting medication monitoring and patient recalls
- Liaising with clinical and administrative teams to ensure continuity of care
- Providing occasional reception and administrative support when required
For suitable candidates, there may also be opportunities to undertake additional clinical support duties, including ECGs and phlebotomy, following appropriate training and competency assessment.

Previous experience in general practice, healthcare administration, reception, care coordination, patient services, or a similar role would be advantageous but is not essential.
